Residential Solid Waste Convenience Centers



Calcasieu Parish provides two convenient locations for residents to dispose of large or irregular items. This service is free and available to all Calcasieu residents with a valid driver's license.

Know Before You Go



Each Residential Solid Waste Convenience Center has an attendant on site during operating hours and there is additional security after hours. When using the site, residents must stop by the attendant's booth and have their driver's licenses scanned to verify they are residents of Calcasieu. The collection sites are to be used for residential solid waste only.

To operate sites within regulations, please follow these guidelines:

  • Commercial and industrial waste are prohibited.
  • No scavenging allowed.
  • Tires (vehicular and equipment) are limited to five per day per person. Rims must be removed.
  • No medical waste.
  • Paint cans must be open and dried.
  • All motors, tanks and cans must be drained of all fluids.
  • No automotive or industrial oils, grease or antifreeze.
  • White goods must be freon-free and doors must be removed for safety.
  • Animal carcasses or byproducts or recreational activities must be reduced as much as possible, double-bagged and tied.
  • All acceptable waste must fit in waste containers provided.
  • Recyclables must be sorted in to appropriate containers.

The following items can be accepted for recycling:

  • Aluminum cans
  • Brown paper bags
  • Cardboard
  • Catalogs, magazines and phone books
  • Chipboard (cereal boxes, shoe boxes, etc.)
  • Colored paper
  • Computer paper
  • Envelopes
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Newspapers and junk mail
  • Plastic bottles and jugs
  • Tin and steel cans
  • Empty aerosol cans
  • White ledger paper

unacceptable items

The following items CANNOT be accepted for recycling:

  • Aluminum foil
  • Auto glass or ceramics
  • Batteries
  • Film canisters
  • Light bulbs
  • Painted wood
  • Paper towels
  • Plastic grocery bags (Please return to your supermarket)
  • Plastic wrap
  • Porcelain
  • Styrofoam
  • Treated wood


An attendant will be present during all open hours to direct you. Anyone entering the

collection site must stop at the attendant's booth and have their driver's license scanned.

This will help us to provide statistics about the type of waste and approximate volume of

waste collected. This information will help the collection centers to

better serve residents in the future.
