RESIDENTIAL SOLID WASTE CONVENIENCE CENTERS

Calcasieu Parish provides two convenient locations for residents to dispose of large or irregular items. This service is free and available to all Calcasieu residents with a valid driver's license.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Each Residential Solid Waste Convenience Center has an attendant on site during operating hours and there is additional security after hours. When using the site, residents must stop by the attendant's booth and have their driver's licenses scanned to verify they are residents of Calcasieu. 

disposal guidelines

  • Must be a resident of Calcasieu Parish
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Residential solid waste ONLY; commercial/industrial waste prohibited
  • Waste must fit in waste containers
  • Pick up any litter or debris that falls from your load
  • No scavenging allowed 
  • Five tires per day limit/rims removed
  • Paint cans must be open and dry
  • Motors, tanks and cans must be drained
  • Animal carcasses must be double-bagged
  • White goods must be freon-free and doors must be removed for safety
  • Recyclables sorted appropriately

unacceptable items

  • Asbestos siding
  • Medical waste

  • Automotive oils, grease or antifreeze 
  • Boats (unless cut up to fit in box)

We can accept the following for recycling:

METAL 

  • Aluminum cans
  • Tin and steels cans
  • Empty aerosol cans

LARGE METAL

  • Bicycles
  • Fence posts
  • Bed frames
  • Metal roofing
  • Miscellaneous metal pieces

PAPER

  • Brown paper bags
  • Newspaper and junk mail
  • Catalogs, magazines, phone books
  • Computer/copier paper
  • Envelopes
  • Cardboard/chipboard (cereal boxes, shoe boxes, etc.)

PLASTIC

  • Plastic bottles and jugs

BATTERIES

  • Deep cycle/automotive type

We can accept the following for disposal, but NOT for recycling:

  • Aluminum foil
  • Small batteries
  • Glass, ceramics, porcelain
  • Light bulbs
  • Painted or treated wood
  • Paper towels
  • Plastic grocery bags (please return them to your supermarket.)
  • Plastic wrap
  • Styrofoam

An attendant will be present during all open hours to direct you. Anyone entering the

collection site must stop at the attendant's booth and have their driver's license scanned.

This will help us to provide statistics about the type of waste and approximate volume of

waste collected. This information will help the collection centers to

better serve residents in the future.
